With all the cloud-based document solutions available, now more than ever, it's important to understand how the private information of you and your clients is being protected. At Cartavi, we realize that the documents you entrust us with contain highly sensitive information, and we've taken great steps to ensure your documents and private information are well protected. How do we do this?.

Security

State-of-the-Art Data Centers

In order to provide our customers with a highly secure, reliable, and scalable solution, we use Amazon Web Services (AWS) for our cloud-computing platform. The AWS data centers utilize multiple layers of the latest in operational and physical security to ensure the integrity and safety of their environment. The data centers are compliant with various certifications and third-party attestations, including SAS70 Type II, PCI DSS Level 1, and ISO 27001.

Secure Communications

We create a secure connection between our servers on the ‘cloud’ and your computer or mobile device, so that any information transmitted in either direction is sent securely. Often referred to as SSL, this ensures that, while your documents are being sent to or from our servers, they are protected from unauthorized access.

Encryption

We encrypt your documents, credit card information, and login credentials while they are stored on our servers. We use the “Advanced Encryption Standard,” which was developed by the United States government. This standard is recognized as being secure enough to protect classified information up to the “top secret” level, which is the government’s highest level of security. We use a 256-bit encryption key, the same used by the Department of Defense and large financial institutions.

Secure Backup

In addition to storing your documents in a highly secure data center located in the western half of the United States, we also store a backup of them in another highly secure data center located in the eastern half of the United States. This ensures that, even if a catastrophic issue occurs in our primary data center, your documents are protected. Keep in mind that we use the same levels of protection when backing up your data as we do when storing them in our primary data center.

Detailed Logging

We maintain a detailed log of all activity that takes place with your documents and transaction rooms. We provide you with the ability to view this activity by either selecting a document and seeing who has done what with it or by selecting a person and seeing what that person has done.

Proactive Notifications

We proactively provide you with email and text notifications when someone views a document that you provided them access to, when you are added or removed from a transaction room, and when you are provided access to or your access is removed from a document. This ensures that, no matter what is happening within Cartavi, you know.

Share Securely via Email

Within Cartavi, we provide you with the ability to share documents via email with people who don’t have a Cartavi account. Because email is an inherently un-secure communication channel, we do not attach your document to the email. Rather, we provide the recipient with a link to a secure web page where they can obtain the document. This ensures that the document never leaves our control. As a result, when the recipient views the document, we can provide you with an instant notification and log the activity.
